Pony riding in Salzburger Land
Feel like an Apache or become a cowgirl, firmly in the saddle at Holzleb’n! Several times a week we saddle up our 4 icelandic horses and our 2 ponies for you. All are surefooted, patient and used to children – perfect for all those daring to ride horseback for the very first time. But good riders are having fun too in our riding arena! The horse riding is free of charge for the kids! We offer as well, riding lessons for a fee in our holiday village.

Riding lessons
We offer riding lessons for children and adults for a fee. Riding is done in English style on our well-behaved Icelandic horses and ponies:
- Pony walk for our youngest guests (25 min. – € 35,-)
- Ponylove for all Ponyfans (25 min. – € 25,-)
- Riding lessons on the lunge – from 5 years (25 min. – € 35,-)
- Individual lessons for beginners or advanced riders on the riding arena (25 min. – € 35,- or 50 min. – € 50,-)
- Horseback rides on our “forest and meadow” riding trail (max. 75 min. – € 75,- )
- Hut-Ride to the Heugathalm for advanced Riders from 14 years incl. a snack (approx. 3- 4 hours – € 160,-)

For Holzleb’n guests, appointments for riding lessons are made at the reception.
Our Riding teacher Elisa
Elisa is looking forward to getting to know you. With a lot of patience and empathy, she will not only teach you the art of riding, but also how to communicate with horses.
At her side: her faithful companion Berni, a four-year-old Bernese mountain dog who loves being outdoors, just as much as she does. Whether hiking in the Grossarl mountains, cycling or – of course – with the horses: Elisa and Berni love to be right in the middle of it all.
Natalie
Natalie visits a School for Equine Management in Vienna. She uses her knowledge and her skills she gained there, for the riding lessons in our holiday village.
She is excited to teach you everything about horses and lead you to the right and safe path in their company.
In her free time, she loves to be in the nature – Whether skiing or hiking, no matter what! She enjoys everything and especially the surrounding huts in Großarl.
Free Pony rides – Ponyfun
In addition, several times (2 times in winter) per week free pony rides for children take place in our riding arena. All the animals (Chicken, Goats, Rabbits, Horses) are going to be fed. In the following, we are preparing the horses for a few rounds of riding on our riding place.
Riding out into nature
For experienced riders we also offer rides (75 min.) around the holiday village. We together prepare the horses, so that we can make a wonderful ride and enyoj the beautiful nature and clean air. A popular trail leads directly past our forest playground.
NEW: Hut-Ride to the Heugathalm
Together, we are riding to the Heugathalm, which located on up to 1.235 meters in altitude. Advanced riders enjoy a beautiful ride through the woods on our Icelandic horses. At the hut, there waits a small snack for us! Up to four riders, from the age of 14 years, can join the ride and it will last for around three to four hours.
A real adventure, which represents the beautiful alpine nature and a special connection to our horses.

If you want to be a real rider, then you want to know how to look after ponies. Here at Holzleb’n you will learn how to groom and saddle. Of course, if you want, you can also help out in the stable!
Several time a week you can run laps on our riding range for free.
