Things to see in the Grossarltal area
Not without reason, Salzburg is one of the most popular tourist regions of Austria. In the birthplace of Mozart and as the location for the Salzburg Festival, you will find here numerous museums, castles, fortresses and gardens. But not only the city of Salzburg itself but also the surrounding area has many attractions for young and old and offers a number of excursions to suit all tastes and according to the weather or season.
With the "Salzburger Land Card" you have free admission to around 190 places of interest and attractions in the whole region of Salzburger Land!
The city of Salzburg is only about one hour away from the Holiday Village Holzleb'n (80 km). This is an ideal place for an excursion with the whole family! Regardless of whether you want to listen to the sounds of Mozart or to climb up to the fortress Hohensalzburg. Salzburg has a great variety of attractions to offer for young and old.
In summer the shimmering lake Zellersee (50 km) entices you out to swim or splash around or simply spend time on the shore. And if you are already in the area you should not miss the Krimmler Waterfalls (100 km). Animal lovers can enjoy a visit to the Wildpark Ferleiten (60 km) in Fusch, an ideal destination on a day trip to Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner (75 km).
Many interesting facts can be discovered at the Salt Mine Hallein (60 km). Travel comfortably to the heart of the salt mine by rail and then slide down the miner's slides to the underground salt lake. The World of the Ice Giants (35 km) in Werfen also promises exciting discovery tours for all visitors, young and old.
Not far away from the Holiday Village, in the National Park Hohe Tauern, is the former mining community Hüttschlag (10 km). And another idea would be a leisurely lakeside walk around the Jägersee (35 km) in Kleinarl. Another popular destination for an excursion in Salzburger Land is Burg Hohenwerfen (30 km). Here every day, visitors can enjoy a falconry show.
